How did you come to work at ProQuest?

I was in the market for a position where I could apply my prior experiences both as a teacher and as an educational consultant at an instructional technology company. I found that ProQuest’s Boca office was hiring a Product Manager. The job description seemed to be an ideal match and perfect challenge for me. The rest is history!

What are some of your job responsibilities?

我增刊ort sales with both new and renewal business, conduct market research with existing customers and industry literature to inform product development and editorial enhancement priorities, compile and evaluate new usage statistics as well as respond to customer inquiries, update collateral and create product updates, to name a few.

What does a typical “day in the life” of a product manager look like?

It’s a balancing act between tactical and strategic work. In the tactical category, depending on the time of year, I’ll spend a good part of my time responding to emails from customers, sales, and customer and technical support. This year, I’ve also planned for multiple development product releases, including identifying items to create or enhance, organizing QA, and creating and communicating product updates. In the strategic category in 2013, I’ve conducted interviews with new and former customers, analyzed competitive title lists for a variety of K12 library products, supported research and conducted focus groups to inform new product development ideas.

What are some of your favorite parts of your role as product manager?

Working with people. As Product Manager I get to interact with literally everyone who touches SIRS products–sales, marketing, trainers, customer service, Content Operations, Market Developers, Development, Customers, Teachers, end users, etc, etc. The variety of people I am in contact with keeps me stimulated, challenged and inspired.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

First and foremost I like to spend time with my husband, Rich, and daughter, Ashley. Doing things to entertain a happy and active toddler takes up most of my time (and energy!). I also am a life-long Washington Redskins fan, but enjoy watching any good NFL game as a pastime.
